The White Vector design, created by renowned designer Cheng Yu Chun, breaks away from traditional decoration rules and introduces a fresh perspective on residential spaces. Instead of placing furniture against walls, the design places them in the middle of the space, becoming factors of spatial expression. This unconventional placement creates a simple and spacious life concept, enhanced by classic and elegant textures.
The design achieves its objective of unframed scenery and plentiful spatial layers through the use of invisible design techniques. The black and white natural stone materials mounted on the main wall in the living room add an eye-catching spatial expression to the entire interior design. These solid rocks, with their nature-made textures, demonstrate extraordinary elegance through their wild and rough exterior.
Cheng Yu Chun is dedicated to maintaining the highest quality in materials. The selected paint and medium used in the design completely comply with green building material labels, ensuring a connection between cultural life and the natural environment. The area of the space is approximately 150 square feet, and the design incorporates F1-grade lower formaldehyde building materials and eco-friendly paint, prioritizing the health and environmental impact of the living space.
The open design and planning of the living room, dining space, and kitchen create a seamless flow between these areas. The ceiling, with its simple and clean design, acts as a link between the living room and dining space, visually expanding the field and meeting the convenience requirements of modern life. The use of straight lines throughout the interior space adds a touch of linear aesthetics, deviating from traditional horizontal or arched decorations.
The White Vector design project took place in Taiwan, starting in July 2017 and finishing in January 2018. The materials used in the space and the spatial configuration were carefully selected to create a rich and natural atmosphere, emphasizing that the style comes from life itself and reflects the inner thoughts and emotions of the inhabitants.
One of the notable challenges faced by the designer was creating a baby-friendly environment while considering the decoration of each individual area. Special substrates and squared timber were used to decorate sharp angles, ensuring a safe and comfortable space for the new-born family member to move and play. The open-space planning effectively reduces unnecessary compartments, visually expanding the public space.
White Vector is a design that redefines residential spaces, showcasing the beauty of simplicity and the power of spatial expression. Cheng Yu Chun's innovative approach to interior design has earned this project the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The White Vector design stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
